OUR MISSION
The Snodgrass & Wigglesworth undergraduate entomology club aims to connect members of the Cornell community through a love of insects and arthropods. Through meetings, trips, outreach projects and more, we hope to foster a shared appreciation and enthusiasm for entomology that will thrive during and after each of our Cornell careers.

Mission Statement
"Our role as the entomologically aligned on campus is to spread insect appreciation. In the footsteps of our namesakes- Snodgrass, the orthoptera amputator, and Wigglesworth, the Rhodrius decapitator, we persevere in our quest to find and describe the larva of Merope tuber. We are united in our mission now, after this meeting, and beyond our time at Cornell."
CURRENT OFFICERS

Ben Burgunder
PRESIDENT
Hi! I'm a senior entomology major and the President of the Snodgrass and Wigglesworth Undergraduate Entomology Club! As an entomology student, I have a broad interest in flies of all kinds including tachinids, thick-headed flies, mosquitoes, black flies, and hoverflies. I also am on a quest to collect every mainland U.S. species of paper wasp. I am up to eight species so far, and every day I regret not being able to capture the ninth one I saw.
I do research in the O’Grady lab on Hawaiian scuttle flies and fruit flies. In my free time, I enjoy collecting and photographing insects, posting to iNaturalist, and rearing stick insects. I have a healthy admiration for any insect that can stand up to human interests (scuttle flies, fire ants, yellowjackets). I hoard snapcap insect vials and enjoy putting stuff in them.
As President, I enjoy hosting showcases for members to display recently seen insects, presentations on the bizarre world of insect courtship, and trivia competitions. Give me a wave if you see me tabling for the club. I am always excited to talk about insects in any capacity.

Nathan Laurenz
VICE PRESIDENT

Hi I’m Nathan and a senior majoring in entomology and minoring in both fungal biology and international development studies. I think edible insects can have a profound positive impact on the world and therefore am planning on pursuing a career in entomophagy. I am involved in many other clubs on campus including the speech team, Hortus Forum plant club, Phi Kappa Tau fraternity, and the herpetology club.

Max Cantelmo
TREASURER
I'm Max Cantelmo and I'm the current Snodwiggs treasurer! I absolutely love being a part of the best entomology club on campus, and on top of that I'm a huge outdoorsman. I got my start with entomology early on as an educator at a local insectarium and the passion stuck. I hope to see you at the meetings!

Natalie Sacco
SECRETARY

I'm Natalie, a junior entomology major and the secretary of snodwiggs. I've always had an interest in insects and am excited to learn more about them. This summer, I started working in the Hajek lab with brown marmorated stink bugs and spotted lanternflies. Outside of entomology, I'm involved in the Cornell University Chorus.
